ATLANTA -- Well known rapper “Lil Wayne” has been arrested in Atlanta on drug charges.

Police arrested "Lil Wayne", who's real name is Dwayne Michael Carter, early Monday morning near Atlantic Station in midtown Atlanta.

Officers say Carter had several drugs in his possession when they arrested him.

He was released on bond.

Carter has released five albums under the name “Lil Wayne” beginning with “Tha Block Is Hot” in 1999.

His most recent is “Tha Carter II”. That album hit number 2 on the charts after its release last year.

The lead single off “The Carter II” was “Fireman”. It climbed to number 32 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart.
